My journey into guitar building began with a kit and hubris. I thought I’d piece it together, string it up, and have a playable instrument. Instead, I broke nearly every part and was quickly humbled. What could have been the end of the project turned into the beginning of an obsessive passion—I caught the "bug". I set the kit aside, started from scratch, and began learning everything I could about how guitars are truly made.
What started as curiosity quickly became a lifelong pursuit. I was drawn not only to the music guitars create, but to the way every decision—the wood, the bracing, the joinery—shapes their voice. I dove deep into acoustics, construction techniques, and finishing methods, determined to understand how artistry and engineering come together in the service of sound.
Over time, I also discovered the importance of finding an aesthetic that feels as natural as the tone itself. I work with the wood’s grain, color, and character rather than against it—highlighting the organic beauty that makes each piece unique. From subtle curves to hand-rubbed finishes, my approach is about letting the materials speak for themselves, creating instruments that feel timeless and deeply personal.
The hallmark of a great guitar is one that seemingly puts out more than is put in. Today, every guitar I build reflects a balance of tone and beauty to achieve that sensation. I pair tonewoods for their resonance as well as their visual harmony, voice each bracing pattern to unlock the wood’s fullest potential, and shape every detail by hand. My goal is simple: to create instruments that are responsive, visually striking in their natural elegance, and alive with tone i.e. guitars that hard to put down.
